Finding land…

In March 2021, we had were able to purchase a 10 acre parcel of land that is within walking distance from the Mission Base. A parcel this large allows us to build the new school with enough land to continually grow and fulfill educational plan for the site .  To our joy and excitement, in June 2021 travel to Uganda opened up and allowed for us to check on the new school site. Our last visit was with the Mission Team in January 2020. As many experienced with the Covid mandates, travel for more than a year had to be delayed.

After a few days in the capital city of Kampala, we headed north to the village of Kamdini, where we have a Mission Base (the Mission Base is the house where we stay with Missions teams, and hold crusades and Biblical teaching).

Arriving in Kamdini, we were thrilled to confirm that the land was perfect for the school, and so we arranged to hire a bulldozer to come and clear the shrubs and other vegetation leaving the beautiful mature trees on the land.  The loud rumble of the machine working caused quite a stir amongst the curious neighbours who would wander by to see what was taking place in their village. Within four days the ground was levelled.

We were able to meet with both the adjacent landowners and the local civil leaders. They were all excited and encouraged us with their support of the project. To have the school built close at hand and so convenient for all the local children was something they had been hoping for.  Moreover, being able to have access to quality affordable education that would give their children a chance to dream of a better future is something that has never before been seen in that community.

On our last day we were able to gather all the stakeholders together on the cleared land. As we gathered, we prayed over the land and dedicated it to the purposes of God.  Our hearts were full seeing what had been accomplished in the time we had been there.

We left the village and returned to Kampala. There we were able to meet the Directors of Global Family Church, the organization we are partnering with on the school project, to plan, strategize and pray for the future.

As we said our goodbye’s and flew home to Canada, we were amazed at how the Lord moved and blessed us with a very fruitful visit: so much was accomplished, and the school plans are moving forward. During the weeks following our return home the security fencing poles were made, installed and the fencing was completed. We are believing God for the funds to continue this project and complete the first Primary block.
